Macron says he will maintain dialogue with Putin

French President also said Paris will continue to make efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine

PARIS, March 2. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday said he will maintain dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I have decided to stay in contact with President Putin," the French leader said in a televised address to the nation.

Macron also said France will continue to make efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine.

"We will work so that all continents condemn this invasion, demand a ceasefire and continuation of humanitarian operations on Ukrainian territory," he said.

The French president said he will call an EU summit in Versailles for March 10-11 in connection with the situation in Ukraine.
