Russia reports 19,905 new daily COVID-19 cases — crisis center

MOSCOW, September 17. /TASS/. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Russia grew by 19,905 in the past 24 hours, this is the highest number since August 22.

Overall, there are currently 7,234,425 active COVID-19 cases in Russia, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Thursday.

The relative growth rate stands at 0.28%.

St. Petersburg reported 1,738 daily COVID-19 cases (the highest number since August 14), while the Moscow Region saw 837 cases, the Sverdlovsk Region - 504, the Voronezh Region - 483 and the Samara Region tallied 480 cases.

Patients' deaths

Russia’s COVID-19 death toll climbed by 791 fatalities in the past 24 hours compared to 794 mortalities a day earlier, having reached 196,626 total deaths.

The conditional mortality (the final one can be determined only after the end of the pandemic) remained at 2.72%, according to the crisis center.

In particular, over the past 24 hours, as many as 39 coronavirus deaths were registered in Russia’s second-largest city, St. Petersburg. The Sverdlovsk Region saw 37 deaths. The Krasnodar Region recorded 34 fatalities, the Nizhny Novgorod Region tallied up 29 deaths and the Rostov Region registered 27 mortalities.

Patients' recoveries

The number of coronavirus recoveries in Russia grew by 16,619, reaching 6,469,017.

According to the crisis center, the recovery numbers currently stand at 89.4% of the total number of infections.

In particular, Moscow confirmed 1,359 daily COVID-19 recoveries, St. Petersburg - 1,061, the Moscow Region - 708, the Irkutsk Region - 528, the Perm Region - 479 and the Sverdlovsk Region - 486.
