MOSCOW, July 14. /TASS/. The pause in the work of the Normandy format to resolve the situation in Donbass is due to Ukraine’s failure to implement the agreements reached earlier and the Minsk accords in general, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

When asked about possible practical steps to resolve the Donbass issue, Peskov stressed that the most effective measure would be the implementation of the 2015 Minsk agreements, and practical steps are developed within the framework of the "Normandy Four" (Russia, Germany, France, Ukraine) at different levels, including contacts between political advisers, foreign ministers, and the countries’ leaders.

"As you know, there has been a lengthy pause in this work over the past few years, the lack of progress in the implementation of the agreements that had been reached. Attempts are being made to give an impetus to that process. However, unfortunately, Ukraine has failed to implement the package of the Minsk agreements. This is probably the principal reason for the slowdown in that process that has occurred," he said.
