WHO reports over 420,000 new daily cases of COVID-19

According to the WHO updates, the coronavirus-related deaths increased by over 10,900 to near 2.51 million

GENEVA, February 27. /TASS/. More than 420,000 new cases of novel coronavirus have been confirmed globally in the past 24 hours, pushing a total number of infections to 113.07 million, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in its daily bulletin on Saturday.

According to the WHO updates, the coronavirus-related deaths increased by over 10,900 to near 2.51 million.

As of 17.09 Moscow time on February 27, as many as 113,076,707 coronavirus cases and 2,512,272 coronavirus-related deaths were registered across the globe. The number of confirmed cases grew by 420,491 in the past 24 hours and the number of fatalities increased by 10,939.

The WHO statistics are based on the officially confirmed data provided by countries.

South and North America account for more than 44% of new COVID-19 cases submitted to the WHO in the past 24 hours (187,378 cases). Europe goes second (163,763 cases) followed by the Eastern Mediterranean region (30,978).

Most COVID-19 cases are recorded in the United States (28,102,166), followed by India (11,079,979), Brazil (10,390,461), Russia (4,234,720), the UK (4,163,089), France (3,647,212), Spain (3,180,212), Italy (2,888,923), Turkey (2,683,971), Germany (2,434,446), Colombia (2,241,225), and Argentina (2,098,728).
