Belarusian KGB has data on some individuals’ intentions to carry out terror attacks
The security service head vowed to act tough in compliance with the existing international practice, taking a proactive approach
MINSK, February 11. /TASS/. The Belarusian State Security Committee (KGB) has reliable data on some individuals’ plans to carry out terror attacks in the country, KGB Chief Ivan Tertel addressed the All Belarusian People’s Assembly on Thursday.
"We have reliable information on the intentions of some individuals to commit terror-related acts on the territory of our country," he said.
"We know about these plans, especially those for selecting particular perpetrators, the targets of the attacks, including the country’s leadership and members of their families, the mechanisms of plotting the crime and the sources of financing," he stressed.
The Belarusian law enforcement agencies and special services have all the necessary resources and competence to protect the citizens’ peaceful life, Tertel said. He warned that the KGB would act tough in compliance with the existing international practice of thwarting such crimes, taking a proactive approach.
The KGB earlier said that a series of terror attacks had been prevented in Belarus after the presidential elections held in August last year.
