Belarus documents 700 novel coronavirus cases and 13 deaths
The Health Ministry informed that the country had carried out over 40,000 tests for the novel coronavirus at 13 labs active in Belarus
MINSK, April 6. /TASS/. The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Belarus has risen from 562 to 700, the Belarusian Health Ministry informed, adding that 13 deaths have been documented in the country.
"As of April 6, 2020, there are 634 people receiving treatment at hospitals. The majority of patients have mild or moderate symptoms," the ministry informed, adding that 53 people have been discharged from hospitals on recovery.
There are 13 virus-related deaths recorded in Belarus. The Health Ministry noted that the country had carried out over 40,000 tests for the novel coronavirus at 13 labs active in Belarus.
In late December 2019, Chinese officials notified the World Health Organization (WHO) about the outbreak of a previously unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan, in central China. Since then, cases of the novel coronavirus — named COVID-19 by the WHO — have been reported in every corner of the globe, including Russia.
On March 11, 2020, the WHO declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic. To date, approximately 1,300,000 people have been infected worldwide and roughly 70,000 deaths have been reported. That said, over 265,000 individuals have recovered from the illness across the globe.
