Ukraine seals border over coronavirus threat

The entry ban will remain in force for two weeks

KIEV, March 13. /TASS/. In 48 hours, Ukraine will close its border for foreigners for two weeks, Alexander Danilov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, announced Friday.

"In 48 hours, our country would close the border for the foreigners," he said, adding that the entry ban will remain in force for two weeks.

"Ukrainian citizens, who are currently abroad, will be allowed to return" home, he added.

On Thursday, Ukraine introduced quarantine that will last until April 3. All educational facilities, cinemas, entertainment centers are closed, mass events are banned. According to Ukrainian Health Ministry, amount of the infected increased to 3. The first infection case in Ukraine has been registered on March 3.

The novel coronavirus-induced pneumonia outbreak was registered in late December 2019, in China’s Wuhan. On March 11, the World Health Organization declared it a global pandemic. More than 100 countries, including Russia, have reported coronavirus infection cases.
