NUR-SULTAN, April 26. /TASS/. The guarantor states of the Astana process on Syria declared their intention to counter separatist plans against this country, according to the joint statement of Russia, Iran and Turkey released on Friday after a regular round of negotiations in Nur-Sultan.
"Rejected all attempts to create new realities on the ground under the pretext of combating terrorism and expressed their determination to stand against separatist agendas aimed at undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria as well as the national security of neighboring countries," according to the document that Kazakhstan’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi read out.
The guarantor states confirmed their unfailing commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as goals and principles of the UN charter. "Highlighted that these principles should be universally respected and that no actions, no matter by whom they were undertaken, should undermine them. In this regard they strongly condemned the decision of the US Administration to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, which constitutes a grave violation of international law, particularly the UN Security Council resolution 497, and threatens peace and security in the Middle East," the statement says.
