US sanctions against Chechen head of government "a humorous stunt" — Checnhya’s leader
The US has introduced unilateral sanctions against Chairman of the Government of the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation Muslim Khuchiev on Thursday
GROZNY, April 25. /TASS/. Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov has deemed US sanctions introduced against chairman of the North Caucasian region’s government Muslim Khuchiev "a humorous stunt."
"The US State Department has thought up another humorous stunt, informing the world about banning Chairman of the Chechen Government Muslim Khuchiev and his spouse from entering the US," Kadyrov wrote on his Telegram channel. "It seems like the US Department of State has no other objectives or issues to work on, rather than deal with Chechnya’s prime minister and his wife," he added.
Kadyrov noted that Khuchiev had never been to the US. "This ban does not affect Muslim Magomedovich [Khuchiev] in any way! He was fine without US visits, and he’ll be fine without them in the future," he added.
Kadyrov stressed that the US State Department’s political, information and economic pressure on Chechnya aims to make the region "a foothold of undermining Russia’s integrity." "I advise [the US] to live with us in peace and harmony. This will be beneficial for everyone," the Chechen leader concluded.
The US has introduced unilateral sanctions against Chairman of the Government of the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation Muslim Khuchiev "due to his involvement in gross violations of human rights." the US State Department press service said on Thursday. The sanctions involve a ban on entering the US for Khachiev and his spouse.
