VLADIVOSTOK, April 24. /TASS/. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who arrived on Wednesday at the border railway station of Hasan, has tasted a Russian karavai, a loaf of round bread symbolizing hospitality, local MP Natalya Karpova told TASS.
Earlier, media reports said the North Korean leader had refused to taste the traditional Russian bread.
"He was very glad when he left the train, he accepted the flowers and also dipped a piece of karavai in salt and ate it," Karpova said.
In Hasan, Kim Jong-un was met by Russian Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexander Kozlov, Primorsky Region Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora and North Korea’s Consul General in Primorye Jo Sok Chol.
The North Korean leader visited the House of Russian-Korean Friendship, also known as "The House of Kim Il Sung."
Kim’s train headed on a one-way railway line along the borders of the Land of the Leopard national park to a station in Ussuriysk, a major city in the south of the Primorye Region. The train covered the 260 km distance in seven hours. In Ussuriysk, the train switches to a line of the Trans-Siberian Railway, which goes to Vladivostok. It takes nearly two hours for the train to cover the 70 km track section.
