Zelensky asks Poroshenko why the poorest country in Europe is led by the richest president
The candidate recalled that the national pension amounts to some $55
KIEV, April 19. /TASS/. Ukrainian presidential candidate Vladimir Zelensky has asked his opponent, incumbent president Pyotr Poroshenko, why the poorest country in Europe is led by the richest president.
Zelensky asked Poroshenko questions sent to him by Ukraine’s regular citizens. He asked the current Ukrainian leader why the poorest country in Europe is led by the richest president, and how can a person survive on a 1.5 thousand hryvna ($55) pension.
Poroshenko refused to answer Zelensky’s questions, stating that he did not bother to write them down. The Ukrainian president reiterated that Russia is to blame for the current situation in Ukraine, and that before he came to power, the country was in a worse condition. He claimed that he managed to raise international solidarity with Ukraine.
Around 22,000 people attended the presidential debates held at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev on Friday evening.
The runoff of Ukraine’s presidential elections is scheduled for April 21 and will feature head of the Servant of the People party Vladimir Zelensky going up against incumbent President Pyotr Poroshenko. The first round took place on March 31 and saw Zelensky receiving 30.24% of the votes, almost twice as much as Poroshenko, who got 15.95%.
