Poroshenko spends twice as much as Zelensky on runoff election advertising campaign
Poroshenko has spent an equivalent of $3.7 million on his election advertising campaign ahead of the runoff election, the civil movement "Chesno" announced

Incumbent Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko has spent an equivalent of $3.7 million on his election advertising campaign ahead of the runoff election against an equivalent of $1.7 million spent by frontrunner Vladimir Zelensky, the civil movement "Chesno" (Honestly) said on Wednesday.
"Within five days of the second round, Poroshenko invested another 100 million [hryvnias] in the election campaign, while Zelensky - 44.6 million [hryvnias]. The National Agency for Prevention of Corruption has issued interim financial reports of the presidential candidates with data on the recepit of funds and expenditures of Pyotr Poroshenko and Vladimir Zelensky between April 7 and 13," the organization said.
According to reports, Poroshenko continues funding the election campaign out of his own pocket. Taking into account the first round, the president has already spent more than 500 million hryvnias ($18.5 million). The campaign of comedian Vladimir Zelensky is funded by his Servant of the People party that nominated him. Zelensky has officially raised about 147 million hryvnias ($5.44 million) in both rounds of the election campaign.
In the first round of Ukraine’s presidential race on March 31, the candidate from the Servant of the People party Vladimir Zelensky received 30.24% of the vote, while Poroshenko, who seeks a second term, came in second with 15.95%. The runoff is scheduled for April 21.
