Sudanese Military Council calls on political forces to build dialogue

CAIRO, April 12. /TASS/. Sudan’s Military Council calls on the country’s political forces to build dialogue, head of the Council’s political committee General Omar Zein Al-Abidin said at a press conference on Friday.

"Today, we are launching dialogue with political forces," he said. "Our goal is to establish stability and security in the country so we call on all parties to engage in efforts to outline Sudan’s future," he added. According to the general, the army "has no ambition to usurp the power. "We are here to move the country forward," Omar Zein Al-Abidin emphasized.

On April 11, a military coup took place in the country and President Omar al-Bashir was ousted after 30 years in power. The Sudanese army suspended the country’s constitution, dissolved the parliament, government and local authorities and declared a three-month state of emergency in the country. The army also formed a military council to rule the country during an interim period that is expected to last two years.
