CAIRO, April 11. /TASS/. Conflicting reports on the location of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir are emerging from Sudan. The Al-Hadath TV channel reported on Thursday that he had been detained by the army who staged a coup d’etat in the country, citing Sudanese journalists.

At the same time, the local non-governmental Al-Mashhad Al-Sudany TV channel reports that the president had fled the country.

According to the information emerging from Khartoum, incumbent and former top officials from the president’s team are currently under arrest, including head of the Republican Guard and former Defense Minister Abdel Rahim Mohammed Hussein, leader of the ruling National Congress party Ahmed Haroun, as well as former First Vice President Ali Osman Taha. In particular, Taha threatened to use 'shadow battalions’ against the protesters.
