MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. Chairman of the Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament) Foreign Affairs Committee Konstantin Kosachev has said that the recognition of Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights by US President Donald Trump will bring the US more problems than dividends.

On Monday, Trump signed the proclamation recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights during talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"The move is another ‘self-inflicted wound’ by Trump, which will bring him and his country more problems than dividends. Yes, Israel will applaud. However, the Middle East settlement process in general and interaction between the key regional players will be more complicated. That’s bad news for both the US and Israel," Kosachev wrote on his Facebook page.
