ATHENS, March 4. /TASS/. Russian energy expert Yevgeny Kalinin, arrested in Greece at Ukraine’s request, should be released immediately, the Russian’s lawyer Yannis Rahiotis told TASS after visiting his client at Athens' Korydallos high-security prison. According to the lawyer, the move to arrest Kalinin was illegal.

"We expect the Greek authorities to admit that Yevgeny Kalinin’s arrest was unjustified and illegal and to immediately release him," Rahiotis said.

The lawyer told TASS earlier that Kalinin, who arrived in the Greek capital on Thursday on a short business trip, had been detained at Athens airport. On Friday, a court sent the Russian to the Korydallos prison until Greece receives Ukraine’s extradition request. According to Rahiotis, the case is politically motivated and aimed against Russia.
