Macky Sall reelected as Senegalese President

Former Prime Minister Idrissa Seck came second with 20.5% of the vote

MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. /TASS/. Senegalese President Macky Sall, 56, has won re-election at the presidential election on February 24, with 58.27% of the vote, AFP news agency reports on Thursday referring to the National Vote Counting Commission.

It said former Prime Minister Idrissa Seck came second with 20.5% of the vote. Earlier, the Senegalese Interior Ministry said the voter turnout was 66.5%.

The president has been elected for five years, while his previous term in office was seven years. The head of state is elected by direct universal suffrage. If no candidate wins a clear majority, a second round is held. Macky Sall has been in power since 2012.
