Diplomat blames Poroshenko for ruined economic ties with Russia

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova blasted a statement made in Ukrainian president’s interview with ICTV television where he blamed Ukraine’s economic collapse on Moscow

MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. President Pyotr Poroshenko is personally responsible for huge economic and financial losses of the Ukrainian people, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.

"All this time, Poroshenko has been personally supervising the severance of Russian-Ukrainian economic ties, which has resulted in tremendous economic and financial losses of the Ukrainian people," Zakharova was quoted on the Facebook page of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The diplomat blasted a statement made in Ukrainian president’s interview with ICTV television in which he blamed Ukraine’s economic collapse on Russia. "Pyotr Alekseyevich must have got frenzied, as one in his right mind will fail lying like this," she stressed.

"Poroshenko is on a daily basis devising something to ruin all economic ties between Ukraine and Russia," she noted, pointing out to the severance of a number of interstate, intergovernmental and inter-departmental agreements, and also recalling the breach of the economic agreement ‘On cooperation in foreign economic activity’ of May 15, 1992.

According to her, Ukraine is following the same policy in its withdrawal from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). "The same policy - Kiev’s withdrawal to its own detriment from the Commonwealth’s economic programs," the senior diplomat said.

On Poroshenko’s orders, Kiev has unilaterally stopped military-technical cooperation with Russia, wrecked the program for economic cooperation for 2011-2020, stopped production cooperation in aircraft manufacturing and shipbuilding, she reiterated. Also at the orders of Poroshenko, Ukraine initiated cutting of ties in the construction of Unit 3 and Unit 4 of the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant, Zakharova added.
