MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/. Speaker of the National Assembly (parliament) of the Republic of Korea Moon Hee-sang will visit Moscow in 2019, said Hong Young-pyo, leader of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Democratic Part, at a meeting with First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council’s Committee for Foreign Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov.

"Ms Matviyenko [Federation Council Speaker] visited both Pyongyang and Seoul last year, and is interested in the Korean Peninsula. Her colleague Moon Hee-sang sends her regards. He also plans to visit Moscow this year," Hong Young-pyo said.

The parliamentary member expressed hope that during this visit "the first Supreme Parliamentary Council will be held, and various options of practical cooperation between the countries will be discussed." "In June last year during a summit our presidents agreed to extend potential for cooperation in the Far East and national welfare as a whole. We as parliamentary members should support work in this area," he stressed.

Hong Young-pyo suggested Dzhabarov discussing cooperation between legislative bodies, as well as some issues of trilateral cooperation (Russia, the Republic of Korea, DPRK).
