Russian bulk carrier Kuzma Minin arrested in UK
The reason behind the arrest was the owner's debts, coordinator at the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) Sergei Fishov said
MOSCOW, January 17. /TASS/. The bulk carrier Kuzma Minin operated by the Murmansk Shipping Company (MSCO), that earlier ran aground near the British port of Falmouth, was arrested for the ship owner’s debts, coordinator at the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) Sergei Fishov told TASS on Thursday.
"The vessel was arrested for the owner’s debts," Fishov said.
In December, the vessel, that was going from the Netherlands, ran aground near the port of Falmouth and sustained damage of its oil tank. It was later brought afloat, and it anchored at the port’s roadstead. The British port authorities detained the vessel before the end of the investigation into the incident and the repair of damage.
Before approaching the UK the bulk carrier could not leave the Netherlands for a long time due to the commercial disputes between the vessel owner and contractors.
There are nine vessels of the Murmansk Shipping Company abroad, part of them arrested, Fishov said.
