MOSCOW, January 11. /TASS/. US embassies and consulates in Russia will continue providing passport and visa services despite government shutdown in the United States, the US Embassy in Moscow told TASS on Friday.

"Scheduled passport and visa services in the United States and at our US Embassies and Consulates overseas will continue during the lapse in appropriations as the situation permits," the US Embassy in Moscow said in response to a question on whether government shutdown in the US will affect issuance of visas in Russia.

The embassy did not specify what factors may influence further development of the situation and recommended visa applicants in Russia to get the latest updates from the official website. No new information about the work of US embassies and consulates in Russia during US government shutdown has been provided so far.
