NATO arranges Russian experts’ visit to Brussels for dialogue
"NATO has been engaging with civil society and expert communities in many countries, including Russia, for years," NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller said
BRUSSELS, November 16. /TASS/. A delegation of Russian independent experts held talks with NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller at the NATO headquarters in Brussels on Friday, Gottemoeller wrote on Twitter.
A NATO official told TASS that the delegation had visited Brussels upon the invitation of the North Atlantic Alliance.
"NATO has been engaging with civil society and expert communities in many countries, including Russia, for years. We will continue to do so. This is part of our transparency and dialogue approach. The latest visit of Russian experts did not include public events, so we don't have more to report than what's been mentioned on the social media," the NATO official said.
"Never short of topics to discuss with Russian interlocutors. Enjoyed my discussion with experts from Russia: arms control agreements, exercises, transformation of NATO, perception of Russian policy - some of the themes we talked about. Dialogue is important!" Gottemoeller tweeted.
The NATO Public Diplomacy Division actively works withRussian public opinion, in particular, arranging regular trips to Brussels for Russian journalists and experts and providing them with the opportunity of meeting with NATO officials.
