US decision to quit INF Treaty puts Europe at risk — Macron
PARIS, November 6. /TASS/. The United States’ decision to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty poses a threat to Europe’s security, French President Emmanuel Macron told the Europe 1 television on Tuesday.
"When I see US President Donald Trump saying a few weeks ago that Washington would withdraw from an important disarmament treaty, which, let me remind you, was signed after a profound missile crisis in Europe in the mid-1980s, it is clear to me that Europe and its security become the main victim in that case. I am not blowing the issue out of proportion. I am looking at the situation we are currently in impartially. We are in Europe, which has lived in unprecedented conditions of peace for seven decades now, but which is divided into parts as a result of nationalism growth. We live in the world where dangerous trends reemerge due to major powers’ rearmament. That’s why we need a stronger Europe," Macron said.
