Syria’s Hirjillah camp ready to accommodate 15,000 refugees from Idlib
According to Camp Director Abdurrahman Khatib, 700 refugees were currently residing in the camp
HIRJILLAH /Syria/, August 14. /TASS/. More than 1,500 refugees are expected to arrive in the Hirjillah refugee camp in Syria’s Rif Dimashq province from the Idlib province on Tuesday, Camp Director Abdurrahman Khatib told reporters, adding that the camp could accommodate a total of 15,000 people.
According to Khatib, 700 refugees were currently residing in the camp. "We plan to receive another 1,500 refugees tomorrow [on Tuesday]. As soon as reconstruction work is over in the western part of the camp, we will be able to accommodate another 7,000 people," he said.
The camp’s director also said that a total of 15,000 refugees were expected to arrive from the Idlib province. "They will remain here until Idlib is liberated," Khatib added.
He said that the camp had initially accommodated refugees leaving Eastern Ghouta through humanitarian corridors but after those people had been able to return to their homes, they were replaced by those leaving Idlib.
