Russian Emergencies Ministry ready to help Greece hit by wildfires if requested
According to latest reports, the fires have claimed the lives of more than 80 people
DVORIKI VILLAGE (Vladimir Region), July 25./TASS/. The Russian emergencies ministry is ready to help Greece in putting out wildfires if it receives instructions from the government, First Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations Alexander Chupriyan told reporters on Wednesday.
"In his message of condolences, Russian President Vladimir Putin also said the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations is ready to help. If our government requests this and gives us such instructions, of course we will fly to any part of the globe," Chupriyan said.
"So far, we have had no instructions regarding Greece," he noted.
Greece was hit by a hot, dry spell early in July with temperatures rising to plus 40 degrees Celsius. Several wildfires erupted around Athens on Monday amid abnormal weather. According to latest reports, they have claimed the lives of more than 80 people.
