Armenia’s new premier expects to meet with Putin at EAEU summit in Sochi
The session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be held in Sochi on May 14
YEREVAN, May 8. /TASS/. Armenia’s new Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told TASS on the sidelines of the republican parliament after his election as the republic’s premier on Tuesday he expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Sochi on May 14.
"Of course, I’m planning to meet with Vladimir Putin in Sochi on May 14," Pashinyan said in response to a question from TASS.
Acting Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier on Tuesday that Moscow expected Armenia to take part in the summit of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
"No doubt, we expect it [Armenia’s participation in the summit], this is a very important participant, an important partner," Peskov noted.
The acting Kremlin spokesman also noted that normally bilateral contacts are held on the sidelines of such events.
"That is why, we expect bilateral contacts to take place as well," Peskov said.
The session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the highest supranational authority of the Eurasian Economic Union, in which Russian leader Putin will take place, will be held in Sochi on May 14.
