The Armenian parliament will hold a second vote on electing the prime minister on May 8
YEREVAN, May 3. /TASS/. Armenia’s opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan has been again officially nominated as a candidate for the prime minister, the press service of the parliament, the National Assembly, said.
"On May 3, Pashinyan was again nominated for the prime minister in the National Assembly at 4 p.m. (3 p.m. Moscow Time). The candidate was nominated by more than one third of the total number of lawmakers," the statement said.
The Armenian parliament will hold a second vote on electing the prime minister on May 8.
On May 1, the parliament rejected Pashinyan’s bid to become prime minister. Pashinyan was backed by 45 lawmakers but failed to obtain 53 seats he needed to have a majority.
The ruling Republican Party, which has 58 seats, said at the previous election it would vote for a candidate who secured support of at least one third of MPs.
