FSB busts major drug supply network from EU
The organizers and the active members of the drug ring are Russian citizens
MOSCOW, April 27. /TASS/. The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Russian Interior Ministry have busted a large drug supply line from the European Union countries to St. Petersburg, the FSB Center for Public Relations told TASS.
"The Federal Security Service and the Russian Interior Ministry carried out investigative operations to shut down the activity of people involved in the organization of a trans-border supply line for large amounts of narcotic and psychotropic substances from the EU countries to Russia in order to further sell them on the territory of the Northwestern Federal District," the FSB center reported.
The organizers and active members of the drug ring are Russian citizens. There is also information confirming the systematic character of the drug deliveries.
"Six active members of the organized criminal gang were caught in the act on the territory of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region at the final stage of the operation, and more than 173 kg of hashish, about 1.8 kg of cocaine, 5,000 2C-B tablets (a synthetic psychedelic known as ‘Siberia’ - TASS) and 1.1 kg of amphetamine were confiscated," the FSB reported.
According to the Center for Public Relations, among the confiscated items are also a Scorpion submachine gun, two Saiga carbines, three Glock guns (one of them fitted with silencers), Parabellum and Schmeissers guns with shells, three fragmentation grenades and six cars with high-technology stashes.
The Russian Interior Ministry’s Investigative Department launched two criminal cases against the detained criminal gang members under Part 1 Article 30 and Part 5 Article 228.1 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Preparations for extensively trafficking narcotic substances) and were placed into custody.
