US presidential administration, Congress 'unanimous' in support of Ukraine
Pavel Klimkin said that he had "a great meeting" with US Acting Secretary of State
OTTAWA, April 23. /TASS/. The administration of US President Donald Trump and the American Congress are unanimous in their support of Ukraine, Canada’s TheStar.com news web portal reported citing Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin as saying.
According to the daily, Klimkin’s statement followed his meeting with US Acting Secretary of State John Sullivan on the sidelines of the meeting of top diplomats of the G7 (Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, the United States, France and Japan) in Canada’s Toronto on Sunday.
Ukrainian top diplomat Klimkin was invited among other foreign ministers by Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chystia Freeland to her home for "a traditional brunch that was prepared by her own children," according to TheStar.com.
Klimkin was quoted by the Canadian news website as saying that he had "a great meeting" with US Acting Secretary of State Sullivan.
"We have clear, consistent bipartisan support on (Capitol) Hill," the Ukrainian foreign minister said. "We have such support from the administration."
The Canadian Foreign Ministry circulated earlier a joint statement of G7 top diplomats, who confirmed their support of the Ukrainian government’s policies, adding that the policy of sanctions in regard to Russia would be maintained over Moscow’s stance on the Ukrainian developments.
