Kyrgyzstan's government fails to survive no-confidence vote
The motion was supported by 101 lawmakers
BISHKEK, April 19. /TASS/. Kyrgyzstan’s parliament on Thursday passed a vote of no-confidence to the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Sapar Isakov, the parliament's press service informed TASS.
"This motion was supported by 101 lawmakers, while five voted against," the press service said. The parliamentarians’ decisions will be promptly forwarded to the country’s President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, who, in accordance with legislation, has the right either to make a decision on the Cabinet’s resignation or disagree with the lawmakers’ decision.
The non-confidence motion against the government was initiated by members of the Kyrgyz parliament’s opposition factions on Thursday who said they had collected the required number of signatures for that (of one-third of the MPs). "Parliament Speaker Dastan Jumabekov confirmed he had received the document with the necessary number of signatures," the press service earlier told TASS.
The Kyrgyz parliament has a total of 120 seats, while the ruling coalition includes members of the Social Democratic Party, the Bir Bol (Unity) and Kyrgyzstan factions.
The current Kyrgyz government formed by the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Sapar Isakov started working last August.
