Thousands of people rally in Armenia, blocking government offices and roads, as ex-president Serzh Sargsyan was elected prime minister
Armenia’s radical opposition unleashed mass protests on April 13 against the nomination of former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s candidacy to the position of the country’s prime minister. On April 17, Sargsyan was elected as head of state by Armenia’s parliament despite the protests.
