MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced on Wednesday that following the retests of doping samples from the 2006 Winter Olympics in Italy all results proved to be negative for banned performance enhancing drugs.

"The IOC confirms that the reanalysis of all samples taken during the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin has been completed, and this reanalysis did not result in any positive cases. There are no ongoing proceedings and this reanalysis process is now definitively closed," the IOC said in its statement.

A total of 1,219 doping samples were collected during the 2006 Winter Olympic Games, held in Italy’s Turin between February 10 and 26.

The Russian Olympic team won a total of 22 medals (eight gold, six silver and eight bronze) finishing in 4th place of the overall medal standings, behind leaders Germany - 29 medals (11-12-6), the United States - 25 medals (9-9-7) and Austria - 23 medals (9-7-7).
