Russian speed skater Yuskov sets world record in men’s 1,500 meters

The previous world record of 1:41.04 was set by Shani Davis of the United States in 2009
MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/. Russia’s Denis Yuskov set the new world record of 1 minute 41.02 seconds during men’s 1,500 meters race of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup event in Salt Lake City on Saturday.
Koen Verweij of The Netherlands was second with 1:41.63, and another Dutchman, Thomas Krol, was third with 1:42.63.
The previous world record of 1:41.04 was set by Shani Davis of the United States on December 11, 2009.
In women’s 1,500 meters event, Yekaterina Shikhova of Russia came third, setting a new national best of 1:52.86. Mio Takagi of Japan was first, with the result of 1:51.49, followed by Marrit Leenstra of The Netherlands (1:52.31).
The ISU Speed Skating World Cup event in Salt Lake City will end on Sunday.
