Thirty thousand tickets for 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup sold on first day
Seven nations have already qualified for the 2017 Confederations Cup
MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Thirty thousand tickets for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup that Russia will host have been sold over the first day of their sale, the world football body’s press office told TASS on Wednesday.
Tickets for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup became available for sale at 1:00 p.m. Moscow time (10:00 a.m. GMT) on Tuesday.
Visa card holders got the possibility to be the first to buy the tickets for the event. Group-match tickets will start from 960 rubles ($15 at the current exchange rate) in the fourth category (only for residents of Russia) and from $70 for the third category (for other football fans).
"Overall, 30,000 tickets have been sold over the first day. Five percent of the tickets were bought by foreigners, with Chileans taking the lead with a big margin, followed by the fans of the German and US football teams," the FIFA press office said.
Seven nations have already qualified for the 2017 Confederations Cup and they are hosts Russia, 2014 FIFA World Cup Champions Germany, 2015 Copa America Champions Chile, 2015 AFC Asian Cup Champion Australia, 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup winners Mexico, 2016 UEFA Euro Cup winners Portugal and OFC (Oceania Football Confederation) Nations Cup winners New Zealand. The remaining eighth nation will be determined following the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup will be held between June 17 and July 2 at four stadiums in Russia and they are Otkritie-Arena in Moscow, Zenit-Arena in St. Petersburg, Fisht in Sochi and Kazan-Arena in Kazan.
