Kvyat’s future in F1 Red Bull to be determined after summer break — team’s advisor
Various media reports speculate that Kvyat could be possibly replaced in the team by Dutch racer Max Verstappen, who is currently racing for F1 team Toro Rosso
SOCHI, April 29. /TASS/. The future of Russian pilot Daniil Kvyat in Formula One team Red Bull will be decided after the summer break in the 2016 FIA F1 Championship, Helmut Marko, an advisor to the Red Bull team, told TASS on Friday.
With the start of this year’s championship in March various media reports speculated that Kvyat could be possibly replaced in the team by Dutch racer Max Verstappen, who is currently racing for F1 team Toro Rosso.
"Traditionally we start thinking or talking about the drivers after the summer break," Marko said in an interview with TASS.
The summer break in this year’s championship will be between July 31 and August 26.
"Kvyat started [the season] with problems like he could not have the first race," Marko said. "Ricciardo is on top of his performance at the moment, but Daniil is coming nearer, he is much younger, so it is okay."
Following three Grand Prix races of this year’s championship Red Bull’s pilot Daniel Ricciardo of Australia is currently in the 3rd place with 36 points and his Russian teammate Kvyat in the 7th place with 21 points.
The 22-year-old Russian was on the third step of the podium two weeks ago at the Chinese Grand Prix. It was his second career podium. In July 2015, he was second in Hungary’s Grand Prix.
Red Bull team currently stands in the third place after teams Mercedes and Ferrari in Constructors Standings.
This year Russia is holding its FIA Formula One racing Grand Prix for the first time in spring, namely on April 29-May 1, as compared with the two previous races held in autumn of 2014 and 2015 in Sochi.
A total of 21 races had been scheduled for the 2016 FIA F1 Championship, with Sochi GP listed fourth on the calendar.
