Turkey to provide security at basketball match with Russian club in Istanbul
Lokomotiv Kuban is facing Turkey’s Dorussafaka on Friday night at the Volkswagen Arena in Istanbul with the match scheduled to start at 20:00 local time
MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. Necessary security measures will be observed during Russian basketball club Lokomotiv Kuban’s away match against Turkey’s Dorussafaka Dogus in Istanbul on Friday night, the press service of the Russian club told TASS.
Lokomotiv Kuban, which already qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2016 EuroLeague’s Top 16, is facing Turkey’s Dorussafaka on Friday night at the Volkswagen Arena in Istanbul with the match scheduled to start at 20:00 local time.
"We have not submitted any additional requests concerning security ahead of the match because the Turkish side guaranteed us security in advance, i.e. before the beginning of the EuroLeague’s Top 16 tournament," the press service stated to TASS. "We are not expecting any sort of provocations."
Although failed to qualify for the next round, the Turkish club is seeking victory in tonight’s match as it lost to the Russian side in February by 24 points during its away match. Dorussafaka defeated in their previous encounter Crvena Zvezda and looks for another victory playing with the Russian club on Friday.
"This week we’ll play with same will and ambition," EuroLeague’s official website quoted Dorussafaka Head Coach Oktay Mahmuti as saying. "Then our aim is to get a precious win against our strong rivals Lokomotiv Kuban."
