MOSCOW, June 3. /TASS/. Moscow does not react to calls by some countries for boycotting the 2018 World Football Cup in Russia and is pushing ahead with preparations for the event, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in reply to a question from TASS.

"No, Moscow does not react to boycott calls. We are going ahead with preparations for the 2018 World Cup," Peskov said.

After Joseph Blatter’s re-election as FIFA president on May 29 England’s Football Association permitted the possibility of boycotting the World Cup in Russia. However, its chief, Greg Dyke later said that he was opposed against Blatter as FIFA president personally and that after his resignation the possibility of a boycott was no longer on the agenda. The European Union and European federation of football associations UEFA opposed the idea of boycotting the World Cup in Russia, too.
