Carlsen, Anand draw 8th game of world crown match in Sochi

The score is 4.5 points to 3.5 in Carlsen’s favour

SOCHI, November 18. /TASS/. The current world chess title holder, Magnus Carlsen, of Norway, playing black, and contender Viswanathan Anand, of India, drew the eighth game of the match for the world crown on the 41st move on Tuesday.

The score is 4.5 points to 3.5 in Carlsen’s favour. The ninth game is due on November 20.

The match in the Russian southern seaside resort of Sochi is being held under the classical twelve games pattern. The winner is to collect at least 6.5 points. In case of a 6-6 draw a tie break will follow.

Either player has 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, then 60 minutes for the next 20 moves, and lastly fifteen minutes till the end of the game. As of the 61st move 30 seconds are added to the time that can be spent on each move.

The third day following two games is a day off. The winner is to be known no later than November 27.
