MOSCOW, October 28 /TASS/. Russia will carry out all preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on time and at the top level, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday.

“There is no doubt that Russia will meet the established deadlines and will certainly do all the works at top-class level,” Putin told a meeting of the Russia-2018 Organizing Committee’s Supervisory Council.

Vladimir Putin also said personal responsibility must be behing all issues concerning security provision during the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

“An all-embracing cooperation and coordination of actions between all relevant services and bodies must be observed” in security provision during the sports events, Putin said adding that “there must be instituted a personal responsibility.”

The Russian president said that “security measures must be effective, but they must be not obtrusive or excessive.”

“There should be no problems or discomfort for athletes and fans,” Putin said.

Russia won the bid to host the 2018 World Cup over three years ago in a tight race against the joint bid from England, Portugal and Spain and the joint bid on behalf of Belgium and the Netherlands.

FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke said on Tuesday the exact dates of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be announced by the end of the year or in early 2015. Valcke said the dates for the matches could be possibly set in November during a joint session of FIFA and 2018 Russia organizing committee to be held in the Russian resort city of Sochi.
