NEW YORK, October 27. /TASS/. Evgeniya Vavrinyuk, an ex-girlfriend of Russia’s NHL star Semyon Varlamov, has filed a lawsuit with a court in the United States against the Russian ice hockey player claiming that the Colorado Avalanche goaltender abused her for many years, TMZ Sports entertainment daily reported on Monday.

According to the daily, Vavrinyuk filed a lawsuit in Colorado and claims that “Seymon first attacked her back in 2012 in a ‘drunken animal rage’ ... kicking and punching her even after she was ‘helpless on the ground.’”

Vavrinyuk, a former law student from Russia, claimed that Varlamov abused her on multiple occasions throughout the years when he was drunk, even when they lived together in Russia. However, she said that Semyon always apologized when he sobered up.

In late October of 2013 Varlamov, the key goalie of the Russian national ice hockey team and of Colorado Avalanche, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree kidnapping.

The charges against the Russian goalie were dropped over the following two months as prosecutors cited the lack of evidence in his case.

This time Vavrinyuk decided to take the case to a civil court and, according to TMZ Sports, she seeks $1 million in damages for Varlamov’s alleged abuse of her.
