California police asked to review Russian hockey player Voynov's case

Los Angeles Kings Defenseman Voyonov, 24, was arrested on Monday on suspicion of domestic abuse and released on $50,000 bail

LOS ANGELES, October 23. /TASS/. The Los Angeles County district attorney's office has requested additional follow-up from the police before determining whether domestic violence charges should be filed against Russian hockey player Slava Voynov, local media reported on Thursday.

Los Angeles Kings Defenseman Voyonov, 24, was arrested on Monday and released on $50,000 bail. He was immediately suspended by the NHL though continues to be paid. A court date has been set for December 1.

The Russian Consulate General in San Francisco told TASS that they were maintaining close contacts with Voyonov's lawyers in order "to ensure the observation of the Russian national's rights and intersts by US authorities."
