The design of the main prize contains a symbolic message describing the contest’s venue and some special traits of Russia’s first-ever Formula-1 Grand Prix contest

SOCHI, October 10. /TASS/. The organizers of the 16th stage of the Formula-1 World Cup Championships have presented the design of the trophies to be awarded to the champion and other prize winners. The Sochi Autodrome press-service says the design of the main prize contains a symbolic message - a description of the contest’s venue and some special traits of Russia’s first-ever Formula-1 Grand Prix contest.

The cup’s solid base symbolizes the fundamental features of the host country Russia: strength and self-confidence. The shape of a silver-coloured crystal placed in the center of the composition resembles the racing bolide’s spark plug, while the dynamic black-and-red colour solution reflects the contest’s vigour, drama and emotional strain.

The snowy peaks of the Caucasus surrounding Sochi Autodrome are present in the designer solution, too. In the cup’s basement one can see another unique geographic feature of Grand Prix Russia - the Imereti lowland and the beautiful Black Sea. The finishing flag in the centre of the crystal embodies the athletes’ ever-onward ambition and paramount goal - to be the first. Each cup will bear an engraved name of the event.

Four trophies are in store - three for the athletes who will rise to the podium and a fourth for car constructors.

The cups are made of a unique combination of various materials - from silver and brass to wood, carbon and polycarbonate. Each cup took one month of round-the-clock work to make.
