MOSCOW, August 28. /ITAR-TASS/. Indian chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand has signed a contract with the International Chess Federation (FIDE) granting his consent to clash with reigning Chess World Champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway in a title game in Norway, the federation’s press service said on Thursday.

“Today in the morning we received the contract for the game signed by Anand,” the federation’s spokesperson told ITAR-TASS. “We had no problems at all in negotiations with Anand’s representative, who is his wife and manager Aruna.”

“Anand’s wife thanked the Russian party, and in particular the Russian Chess Federation, for the organization of the game,” the spokesperson said.

According to him, Carlsen’s manager earlier asked the international chess federation to postpone the signing of the contract until September 17, but FIDE refused the request.

According to FIDE rules, in case Carlsen refuses to face Anand, the Norwegian grandmaster will be exchanged in the game with the current vice champion, who is Russia’s Sergei Karyakin.

The encounter for the world’s chess crown was scheduled for November 7 in Russia’s Black Sea resort city of Sochi.
