Russia’s Chupkov takes Youth Olympics gold in swimming

The 17-year-old Russian swimmer finished the final run with the result of 1 minute 1.29 seconds

NANJING, August 18. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Anton Chupkov won gold at the 2nd Summer Youth Olympic Games in China’s Nanjing after leaving all contenders behind in swimming 100 meters breaststroke on Monday.

The 17-year-old Russian swimmer finished the final run with the result of 1 minute 1.29 seconds.

His closest contender Maximilian Pilger of Germany finished the distance in 1 minute 1.51 seconds to win the silver and Venezuela’s Carlos Claverie grabbed the bronze with the result of 1 minute and 1.56 seconds.

Chupkov’s medal on Monday was the fourth gold for the Russian team at the Youth Olympics, which kicked off on August 16 and run through August 28.
