GENEVA, June 25. /ITAR-TASS/. The disciplinary committee with the world’s governing football body, FIFA, will probe on Wednesday night into an alleged attack of Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez on Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during the two countries’ group stage clash at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil on Tuesday.

With 12 minutes remaining of the Italy vs. Uruguay match at the Arena das Dunas stadium on Tuesday video footage showed Suarez closing on Chiellini from behind apparently biting the Italian defender on the left shoulder. Cheillini was later pictured in numerous media outlets with bruise marks and teeth trace on his shoulder’s skin.

Whether it was or was not for Suarez's vampire-style attack, but his teammate Diego Godin scored the only goal of the match shortly after the incident to knock out the four-time champions from the global football championship.

BBC cited the 27-year-old Liverpool FC forward as saying after the incident that “These are just things that happen out on the pitch.”

"It was just the two of us inside the area and he bumped into me with his shoulder,” Suarez was quoted as saying. “There are things that happen on the pitch and you should not make such a big deal out of them.”

It definitely could be not a big deal for Suarez, who was suspended for seven games in 2010 for biting PSV’s Otman Bakal in the neck and then received a 10-game suspension biting an arm of Chelsea FC defender Bronislav Ivanovic in April of 2013.

The biting attack could be dismissed as a tribute to world’s blockbuster ‘Twilight Saga’ about vampires, but if FIFA’s disciplinary committee finds Suarez guilty, the Uruguayan forward could be handed either a 24 matches or two-year suspension.

The incident with Suarez is not the first to put Uruguay into the spotlight of the world media during the June 12 and July 13 World Cup in Brazil.

Last week numerous media sources reported that Brazilian border authorities confiscated from the Uruguayan team 39 kg (86 lbs) of their favorite caramel spread, known as dulce de leche.

Some Uruguayan fans put the blame for the 1-3 defeat of their national team to Costa Rica at the championship’s opener two weeks ago on the lack of the caramel spread.

However in their next game, the 2010 semifinalists of the World Cup in South Africa, treated to bitter taste of going home team England (2-1) and eliminated world-title aspiring Italians from the championship with 1-0 victory on Tuesday.

With yesterday’s victory at the 45,000-seat Arena das Dunas in Natal, Uruguayans left their Group D, dubbed as the ‘death group’ shared with Italy, England and Costa Rica, and will play the eliminator of the Last 16 stage against Colombia on June 28.
