Former England football player Ian Wright leaves Brazil after family robbed in London
Wright now works as a TV commentator for FIFA World Cup matches in Brazil
LONDON, June 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Former England football player Ian Wright, a TV commentator for FIFA World Cup matches in Brazil, left on the first flight home after his family had been robbed in London.
Four intruders broke into Wright’s home on Monday night, threatening his wife, Nancy, and daughters, and demanding jewellery and cash. They fled with their haul, leaving wife and daughters unharmed. London police have opened an investigation into the case.
Wright is a former club player for London's Crystal Palace and Arsenal, and for the English national team.
He is champion and two times winner of the Cup of England, the League Cup 1992/93 and the Cup Winners' Cup 1993/94. He was the third best attacker in the history of the Crystal Palace and the second best attacker in the history of the Arsenal.
He played 33 games for England, ending his career on the pitch in 2000.
