RIO DE JANEIRO, May 28. /ITAR-TASS/. The prosecutor of the city of Goias has filed a civil lawsuit to make the Brazilian government suspend an advertising campaign that states that the country is ready to hold FIFA World Cup, according to local media reports.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup will take place in 12 cities of Brazil from June 12 to July 13.

“The government’s advertising campaign claims that the tournament will benefit the Brazilians through investments into the urban infrastructure and public services. However, this is far from reality, which we are observing,” the prosecutor’s message says.

In reality the situation represents “disarray, lack of planning and incompetence”, the message says further.

Representatives of the judicial department of the Brazilian government declined to comment the accusations.

Ahead of the World Cup, Brazil has been hit by a wave of protests and strikes. On Tuesday, in the Brazilian capital Brasilia, the police applied shells with tear gas to disperse a rally, in which took part 2,500 people opposing the hosting of the tournament.

A rally of striking teachers took place in Sao Paulo, and in Rio de Janeiro, bus drivers and busmen took the streets for a 24-hour strike on Tuesday. Buses did not take the routes in the administrative center of the Bahia state, the city of Salvador, due to a strike. For the same reason, there was no bus communication in the capital of the state of Maranhao — the city of Sao Luis.
