Russia wins ice hockey World Championship

Russian squad defeated the Finnish, 5-2

MINSK, May 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia's national ice hockey team has won world championship for a fifth time. In the final match here, the Russian squad defeated the Finnish one, 5-2.

The scorers for the Russian side were as follows: Sergei Shirokov (in the 11th minute), Alexander Ovechkin (28), Yevgeny Malkin (36), Danis Zaripov (45), and Viktor Tikhonov (56). Scorers for the Finnish side were Iiro Pakarinen (20th minute) and Olli Palola (27).

Thereby, the Russian team have their revenge on the Finns, to whom they bowed in a quarterfinal match at the Sochi Olympics, 1-3.
