Denmark to host Ice Hockey World Championship in 2018

Latvia also applied for holding the world championship
MINSK, May 23. /ITAR-TASS/. Denmark qualified for holding Ice Hockey World Championship in 2018. This decision has been made at the session of International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), which took place in Minsk, the federation’s official website reported.
Aside from Denmark, which gained votes of 95 congress participants, Latvia also aspired to hold the tournament with 12 votes.
Two cities — Copenhagen and Herning — are included in Denmark’s application. Latvia planned to hold the championship in two venues in Riga.
The soonest world championships will be held in the Czech Republic (2015, Prague and Ostrava), Russia (2016, Moscow and St. Petersburg), and in 2017, the organizers will be France and Germany (Paris and Koeln).
