St PETERSBURG, April 01, /ITAR-TASS/. Two-times Olympic figure-skating champions in pairs, Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov plan to continue appearing on the ice in various competitions through to the next Winter Olympic Games, due to be held in 2018 in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Tatiana Volosozhar told Itar-Tass Monday that she did not rule out, however, that they might make a break during the new four-year Olympic cycle.

“It’ll be difficult enough to compete at this high level during all the four years to come,” she said. “In the coming season, we plan to appear at the Grand Prix stages, and as for the European and World Championships, we’ll take a decision on them later.”

Tatiana also said Maxim and she were eyeing the production of new programs.

“As usual, we’ll begin a staging assembly in May - we’ll go to the coach Nikolai Morozov in the U.S. and he will definitely produce a program with us or, maybe, a couple of programs,” she said.

Tatiana also commented on a decision of the five-time winner of World Championships, Aliona Savchenko of Germany, to continue the career in elite sports in partnership with Bruno Massot of France.

“I have the biggest pity for Robin Szolkowy (Savchenko’s partner for the past eleven years - Itar-Tass) in his situation,” she said. “Aliona and he could earn nice money by performing in various shows together but the problem is there’s no way talking Aliona round if she sets her mind on something, and that’s why I can only wish success to her.
